[00:02:46] pretty much everyone is stopped playing it yep we're doing it now it's a pokemon with guns

[00:02:52] it's a survival game it's a team based online arc rust type survival game with pokemon excuse me

[00:03:02] arc the game arc it's like dinosaurs it's like rust with dinosaurs that's not helpful you're referencing

[00:03:08] things that are referencing other things that I do not understand we decided to get our feet wet

[00:03:15] with some pat we decided to power out very very wet in terms of Tanner who drowned a couple of times

[00:03:21] several times let's get into it Joshua we loaded into your world which means that I was at your mercy

[00:03:30] that's right you had already set up a little base by a little lake it was lovely it's a beautiful

[00:03:35] as you pointed out and it was also kind of at the top of this bluff so it was a little bit of a

[00:03:40] choke point and it only had one bridge to it it's like um north west of the starting point but

[00:03:47] then down several bluffs and then there's a little bridge you got a nice pond the bridge to

[00:03:52] Tanner bithy we should call it Tanner bithy we're not calling it that okay and because of the

[00:03:57] bridge there's just one choke point and as we discovered what we were playing yesterday yeah

[00:04:03] you get rated randomly yeah by like villains it's like the uh what are the bad guys and

[00:04:09] breath of the wild called kagu clan or something like that oh the ninjas yeah yiga yiga clan

[00:04:17] the yiga clan yeah they're sort of these yiga clan ninjas that come out of nowhere and just like

[00:04:22] try to kill you try to kill you yeah with guns and knives it's rough and try to like destroy your

[00:04:30] base and steal your shit and kill your Pokemon and that they're not called Pokemon in this game

[00:04:34] they're called pals yeah we kept calling them Pokemon and we'll probably end up doing that

[00:04:39] during this episode but they are pals yeah they're your pals I was gonna say so Sue us but I

[00:04:45] please don't sue us Nintendo I'm sorry it's just it's an easy mistake if anyone you should sue

[00:04:50] pal world yeah it's sort of unbelievable I bought pal world as soon as it came out just because

[00:04:56] I wanted to get it before they got sued yeah or got a cease and desist and they somehow haven't no

[00:05:02] but I only played for like an hour two months ago whenever it came out and I was like I hate this

[00:05:09] yeah bad I do not like survival games in general we got in there and we started chopping it up

[00:05:16] and I would say that I'm ready Josh to give up everything stop recording a show about Pokemon

[00:05:25] yeah we've done enough stop working for any reason or doing anything else and start just playing

[00:05:32] pal world and recording pop Pokemon I mean a pal world Pokemon pal world podcast professional yeah

[00:05:40] we're done with Pokemon yeah because pal world's what I'm all about now Josh and I immersed ourselves

[00:05:46] got nipple deep in the world of pals this week and I kept getting nipple deep in the sort of

[00:05:54] bottomless chasm of water that exists at the bottom of pal world because I kept trying to climb up

[00:06:00] sheer cliffs and falling off if I may is there fall damage great question yes the last thing we did

[00:06:10] before we hop down to see we it's Tanner Tanner discovered this last thing we did before we hop

[00:06:16] down her record was take on the games ultimate boss Zoe and Buzz yeah I don't know elective buzz

[00:06:26] rip off buzz bear it looks like totoro if totoro was elective buzz that's right and at the end

[00:06:33] it puts you at the top of the like clan yiga tower yeah and I just leapt off like a assassin's

[00:06:40] creed into a big lake at the bottom but the lake was only about shin deep yeah so I did take fall

[00:06:47] damage I did die you had to carefully make your way down the cliff to rescue daddy aka

[00:06:54] the way simply take the way point that was at the top of the tower to go down to another way

[00:07:00] point that was at the bottom of the tower which I think is probably why they placed it there by sheer

[00:07:05] coincidence yesterday when my character green ring logged into your character soren's world yeah

[00:07:14] I happen to be a sort of handsome buff silver fox like white haired man with some nice facial hair as

[00:07:23] well yeah who looks like sort of the dad of your character who's a kind of like recall like a young

[00:07:30] silver fox twink I think it's just like a white haired like anime twink yeah so for the whole I

[00:07:39] think for pretty much the whole like three hour four hour session we were playing yesterday and

[00:07:44] today um I was roleplaying as your dad yeah and I'd be like anything for you pop really help the

[00:07:51] characters come to life yeah yeah Tanner was my daddy yeah he has more experience with that literally

[00:07:57] yep yeah being a father I guess I should say I was Josh's tang in this podcast for the first time

[00:08:04] I was married to Josh's mother for many years so what happened first you have to set up a base

[00:08:12] it's not just Pokemon it is Pokemon except the Pokemon are called pals and you have to set up a

[00:08:17] base and the Pokemon work there yeah they're also mean when you encounter them in the wild they

[00:08:24] can be a little Randy yeah yeah and some of them like are really well what's that one so

[00:08:30] I don't want to jump around I guess we should talk about the mechanics but that one

[00:08:36] relaxer us relaxer source was a hurdle killed both of us I think a few times

[00:08:45] we just had to end up like running in a big circle with it chasing one of us while we could get far

[00:08:51] enough ahead to circle back and revive the other yeah then they would die and we'd have to kind

[00:08:56] of repeat the cycle it's name is a little um what's what's the word uh relax relaxer yes well

[00:09:06] it's not I wouldn't say it's not relaxing at all stress or yes all right uh yeah he was an

[00:09:13] early hurdle but first we had to set up we had there's all these little check I will say this you

[00:09:18] and I played and I would say struggled through about four hours of powerl content to record today's

[00:09:23] episode yeah in doing that together to adult man who play Pokemon games professional in playing

[00:09:30] powerl for four hours straight we managed to just beat the tutorial yeah that's it and it was not easy

[00:09:39] no we only weighed that we even pulled the final boss was that we had to first of all join a group

[00:09:49] so we had to do it together because we both tried independently because we also couldn't even

[00:09:53] figure out how to do it together until I had to google it but then we had to go in together and

[00:09:59] then we pulled it off but only because I managed to maneuver behind a column and then uh

[00:10:07] electros like the electric band yeah and he kept trying to hit me but he couldn't because I was

[00:10:16] behind the column and then Tanner was just popping off uh there is bull spiers and arrows on him

[00:10:22] I ran out of arrows and had to just start hitting it with my spear and also um well let's we can't

[00:10:27] get ahead because that's the final boss because let's set up the base it's a whole thing that happened

[00:10:31] first we had to catch a bunch of woolly's little woolly guys lamb balls and use their will to make

[00:10:42] beds for us and our Pokemon I'll say I'll also say this I feel like a lot of the Pokemon I mean

[00:10:49] sorry pals in this game are what we would name Pokemon oh yeah because the names are

[00:10:56] dipton and it's like very obvious it's just like look at this thing lamb lamb it's a lamb

[00:11:03] lamb that looks like a ball what do you want for me when I arrived in in fielstad island it's

[00:11:12] actually the fair weather islands I will say I made it uh based on uh archonis fair weather

[00:11:20] my famous dnd character that you know yeah famous among me so it's the fair weather islands

[00:11:27] I arrived in fair weather islands and you were like a primitive ape man living in like uh

[00:11:34] rags without any shelter and I had to do yeah literally just had a campfire no shirt like

[00:11:44] barely any pants and I'm just yeah a huddling by a campfire to like stay alive during the night

[00:11:50] the thing you have to do in this game is sort of like level up your base and you do that by building

[00:11:55] all these amenities which do like one of several things they'll either make your pals happy by

[00:12:03] giving them like bed or a spa or something yeah hot springs they love that they will generate

[00:12:08] resources for you you need like stone and wood and it's like glowing stone to make Pokeballs

[00:12:14] how how me and pal spheres pal lady that's it maybe and then you need um like a work bench and storage

[00:12:23] and then they'll take things they'll fill the storage and they'll take things out of the work bench

[00:12:27] and Josh figured out that like certain Pokemon are better at certain jobs so you can like

[00:12:32] get everyone working very efficiently Josh was really the stay at home son yeah I I was managing

[00:12:38] the base for sure I built most of the infrastructure the belonging site you're like oh I hate

[00:12:46] management games and then like you were just like refused to come like on Pokemon hunts with dad

[00:12:51] and stayed home and like yeah the uh sim games came back to me like with roaring fury because I

[00:12:59] loved all of the sim games growing up sim city sim ant sim tower oh man sim sim sim safari sim golf

[00:13:08] I got deep in that shit nothing got like eight year old Tanner's heart rate higher than when like

[00:13:13] uh the water table would start to rise on sim and and your tunnels would start to flood

[00:13:18] it was like well what am I supposed to do about that I'm under some steradian species and when

[00:13:23] those red ants invaded oh me so that came back to me and I was like all right if we're playing

[00:13:31] this damn thing I'm gonna make this base run efficiently and so I also figured out that the

[00:13:37] pals have passive abilities and some of them are um like a foreman yeah yeah they're like the guys

[00:13:47] from the YMCA yeah that's right you should have like a specialized skill that like can contribute

[00:13:52] to the base and or the young men's Christian association in like some meaningful way so they will

[00:13:58] optimize for like different parts of the base that is all supposedly true and it's something that

[00:14:03] Josh keeps telling me and apparently Google keeps telling Josh it doesn't seem as though they're

[00:14:08] generating any resources or making any know and I or doing any I often see the pals sleeping in the job

[00:14:14] is what I would say maybe that's on us maybe we're not good leaders yeah I don't know how to

[00:14:22] motivate that cat in particular uh kateva don't get me started on the chickie picky either because

[00:14:28] that one just like it literally says in like the read out of our like base Pokemon it's like this

[00:14:34] chickie picky is lazy you guys fucked up hiring this one yeah and I put like a gamaas I think was um

[00:14:43] the logging site manager chickie and uh I've never seen him log and it's also a big mass of good

[00:14:51] I'm always the one over there long yeah we are the ones who are doing most of the work I got

[00:14:55] shit to do I should be out there like catch and morn beaten the tutorial also say this while we're

[00:15:01] here gamaas is Joshy sweetie gamaas was um utility player for sure

[00:15:13] really held down the fort back home and powerful well powerful in the final boss fight except

[00:15:21] I forgot to actually bring him and for the one that we did successfully but on my solo run he was

[00:15:28] the only reason that I popped off any amount of damage uh but gamaas um sort of a uh diq scrub oh he's

[00:15:36] yeah he's a little like uh uh uh diddo slime maybe from like dragon quest two yeah that's right got

[00:15:42] that sort of a dumb look on his face.

[00:15:44] Yeah, I did.

[00:17:55] And then you start taking off the tutorial stuff

[00:17:57] and it starts to feel pretty fun

[00:17:58] and you start to find like a pretty nice variety of Pokemon.

[00:18:01] We both got our asses creamed a couple times

[00:18:03] by like OP Pokemon that were just like way out of our league.

[00:18:07] Yeah, the mammoth one is a nightmare.

[00:18:11] The mammoth one we'll get to because it was sort of

[00:18:13] the good little kids in that.

[00:18:17] We get through some of the checkpoints.

[00:18:18] We're known famously for recounting the Pokemon lore

[00:18:25] very well and very thoroughly, I would say.

[00:19:11] So we went all up and down the coast

[00:19:13] of this fucking Pal Earth, Fairweather Island.

[00:19:19] And caught a bunch of pals

[00:19:22] and I want to talk about those pals now

[00:19:25] because let's not be around the bush.

[00:19:28] Let's start talking about these fucking pals.

[00:19:39] we brought into the final battle

[00:19:41] but it's actually the teams that we did everything with

[00:19:43] and their utility players

[00:19:44] and you kind of have to do a lot with them.

[00:19:47] We also sort of discovered pretty late into the process

[00:19:50] that you can hit four to command your pals

[00:19:54] which I was doing to great effect

[00:19:56] to like kind of sick them on anything that moved around us.

[00:20:02] with like relaxes.

[00:20:03] Yeah, and you killed a lot of pals

[00:20:05] that I wanted to capture

[00:20:07] because your pal was wailing on them.

[00:20:14] We had to capture 30 for one of the tutorial missions

[00:20:18] but not 30 different.

[00:20:33] and benefits, et cetera.

[00:24:14] And then she would come out as well and battle for you, which is just a nice bonus.

[00:24:22] I was jealous of that.

[00:24:23] And then we did a big raid on one of the Syndicate, Reigns Syndicate camps.

[00:24:27] And there was a cage in the center of it.

[00:24:29] And I unlocked the cage and got a little bonus Pokemon called Dazzy.

[00:24:34] Oh yeah, that's right.

[00:24:36] The gin.

[00:24:37] Yeah, she's like a gin.

[00:24:38] She's in mix between like Raltz and Thunderous.

[00:24:41] Yeah.

[00:24:48] And then my last Pokemon was sort of my white whale this week.

[00:24:52] Josh and I both had to rush at it to take it down.

[00:24:56] It was the big deer, like thear deer.

[00:25:00] We really coveted those deer.

[00:25:02] And they're not good.

[00:25:03] And they were very hard to get.

[00:25:05] They're just normal type.

[00:25:06] They don't seem to do much.

[00:27:39] Unless we made more arrows and we frequently ran into economic issues

[00:27:44] and we didn't always have arrows.

[00:28:20] And I think on my run solo, I clocked maybe 5,000 off that and then I got killed.

[00:28:32] So we decided to try it again this morning before we recorded.

[00:28:40] Go there at the exact same time as someone else who you are close friends with.

[00:28:57] And then also if you're lucky, it will take.

[00:29:06] You pulled that ground this thing fucking immediately and he was just ripping through your team.

[00:29:11] He killed all of them except weirdly ping-gillet, the penguin one.

[00:29:18] What an odd thing to name a Pokemon after.

[00:29:21] They named him after pen-gelet the magician of pen and telephane.

[00:29:44] And then it had been killed around when I went solo and then I had to resurrect it.

[00:29:51] And we were waiting around for 10 minutes and then I forgot.

[00:29:55] The way you resurrect a dead pal is by dropping in your pal box, which is like if you ever played no man's guy, it's a little like your kind of base builder.

[00:30:04] That's helpful because home beacon.

[00:30:06] No one has ever played that game so good reference except me for about 300 hours.

[00:30:13] You really put that amount of time in that?

[00:30:16] There's a few games that are like fallback games for me, rim world, no man's sky, moral wind or it's just like I don't want to think about this.

[00:31:05] And the Pokemon can have guns too.

[00:31:07] But we didn't give any of our Pokemon guns.

[00:31:09] I saw a couple of the Pokemon, I mean pals have abilities like their moves involved guns.

[00:31:19] One of them has, I think that Tan Z actually I think is the one, the monkey.

[00:31:24] Yeah.

[00:31:25] By the way, that's my in-bake me barf, pal of the week.

[00:31:31] Yeah, so Tan Z is just another elemental monkey like in Pokemon.

[00:31:36] It looks like a seaman.

[00:33:50] We were kind of decompressing.

[00:33:51] We put all our loot in our boxes and then there's this pesky.

[00:33:56] God what was it called?

[00:33:58] It's little subtitle is the king of the forest but it was actually called mammarest.

[00:34:05] There's a huge level 35 mammarest with a boss icon next to his name glowing red boss icon.

[00:34:14] It's like a mammoth but with a bunch of like moss and like plants on it.

[00:34:20] Yeah, it looks like the mammoth swine not the big Pokemon that's a mammoth with the big eyes.

[00:34:27] Oh Raja.

[00:34:28] Raja, the one that's fun to say.

[00:34:31] No no no not that one.

[00:35:11] too close so we'd have to like disengage and try to run it out.

[00:35:14] But to end our session, we are high off the success of taking down Zoe and Grisbold.

[00:35:20] I thought like one person in particular surely, surely we could do this.

[00:35:25] You know?

[00:35:26] It's level 34 by the way.

[00:35:27] Yeah.

[00:35:28] So I activated all of our Pokemon in the base to a full agro mode and I went up to it with

[00:35:34] it's just like quietly where it was still broken.

[00:35:38] Getting the base, I'm like making more items or doing something.

[00:35:42] I charged at it.

[00:35:43] I hit it, aggroed it, pulled it into the base, got all of the Pokemon attacking it.

[00:35:47] Eventually was overwhelmed pretty quickly.

[00:35:52] Had to run inside of our house which is made out of like sticks and logs.

[00:35:59] He crushed destroyed the house, killed me.

[00:36:03] I was trying to flee back, daddy was trying to flee back to you hiding behind the workbench

[00:36:08] but you were overloaded because you had picked up all the stone because you were trying

[00:36:12] to build arrows.

[00:36:15] So you couldn't get to me.

[00:36:16] I couldn't get to you because I was crawling like four feet.

[00:36:19] You get like 90 seconds if you're in a team to like be recovered by your team.

[00:36:23] Before you lose all of your shit, he was still in the base just running rough shot and

[00:36:27] he has like a earthquake style move where he just started demolishing our entire game.

[00:36:35] It was like the scene in Terminator 2.

[00:36:37] We both just got wiped out.

[00:36:39] It's a shockwave, destroyed both you and me and everything in the base and then we locked

[00:36:44] off and started recording.

[00:36:45] We'll have to log in and see if it's still there.

[00:36:49] Maybe it didn't save and that won't be happening but I suspect it is and probably will never

[00:36:56] recover from that and will never play pal world again.

[00:37:00] But it was fun and honestly, it was way more fun than I expected it to be.

[00:37:04] Yeah, me too.

[00:37:05] I think the real key is to get on with a friend or else it's probably pretty grindy.

[00:37:10] Yeah, I think unless you have a predisposition toward survival games which I don't, you would

[00:37:18] probably have a good time solo but this game was only fun when Tanner and I were playing

[00:37:24] together.

[00:37:25] But it was very fun when we were online.

[00:37:28] Yeah, so get some friends together, give it a shot or don't I don't care.
