Don Joey & Esteban Humano return from their gap year to return their dragon motorcycles to their former glory, and rid Paldea of (most of) the notorious Team Star. They find that the land has been overrun with discordantly leveled trainers and Pokémon, but they are also sweet as hell. (Except for maybe one on Esteban's team, who gets herself into a PR crisis.) We also mash our 'mon together for the first battle of the season... to not-so-surprising results.
[00:00:00] Hello, Alola! Top of the episode to ye and welcome, Ola, to Experience Shared's Pokemon
[00:00:17] Podcast starring me, Great Tusk. Great Trit? Great Tusk. Tusk. That's it. AKA Tanner Greenring.
[00:00:30] That's the one I had. Yeah. That's why I named it myself that. I think yours is a lot better
[00:00:35] than mine. Oh, you know what I was just about to say? Thumbs down for mine. I don't think
[00:00:39] it's good. And I am joined as always by my co-host. You know him, you love him. His name
[00:00:47] is Iron Fjelds. Iron Treads? Yeah. Yeah. AKA Joshua Fjelstad. Yours is Robot Futuristic
[00:01:00] like Tank. They're both Don fan variants. I take it back. I thumbs up Great Tusk. I
[00:01:06] think it's good. I think comparatively in particular, yours is much better. I think
[00:01:12] comparatively mine is better. You're right. Yours has no personality. No. Well, the personality
[00:01:17] of what am I looking at here? The personality comes out under the tusk. Oh yeah. This is
[00:01:21] like a bug. The dumb face. The like. Yeah. This is like a bug. I don't like emoticon
[00:01:27] face. Stupid. Yeah. Sorry you lost that one. I know I lost it. Here I am, Joshua. Welcome
[00:01:37] to the show. Yes. It's experience here. It's Pokemon podcast. We're doing Pokemon Scarlet
[00:01:41] Violet right now. We're back in Paldeia. We've finished our study abroad program in
[00:01:46] Kitakami. Well, let me tell you about Kitakami and my kind of long night of the soul trying
[00:01:51] to get out of Kitakami. I went everywhere on the island of Kitakami trying to figure
[00:01:56] out how to get a ferry back to the mainland. Like every city, every port, like talk to
[00:02:01] every person like you, the guy I need to talk to to get a ferry back to the mainland.
[00:02:06] Yeah. Like no one could seem to help me. It was seemed urgent that I get back. Yeah. I
[00:02:10] mean, we're basically booted off. Lady Briar was like, you gotta get back. But she doesn't
[00:02:15] tell you how. I mean, if you had been paying attention when we first got to Kitakami, then
[00:02:20] it is kind of obvious, but an easy. No. OK. I had to use my normal human time and energy
[00:02:29] to Google it on normal human Google and be told that it's apparently in the fucking menus
[00:02:34] now. Yeah. Also, it's not even normal human Google anymore. Google's been taken over by
[00:02:39] a. Oh yeah, that's right. It's like a nightmare. I miss the human stuff. Yeah, the human stuff
[00:02:44] was great. But I guess this is the bed we made and we're just going to lie in it now. And
[00:02:49] all the and all the A.I. shit barreling into the iron treads future instead of the great
[00:02:54] tusk past. Well, we don't know. It could be like a collapsed society at some point. It's
[00:03:00] us versus the A.I. And like we're more like great tusks than the iron shreds. That's true.
[00:03:05] Not to get matrix on you early in the episode for that. Finally, I've escaped Katamine Island.
[00:03:10] You simply simply open the map and then you flip between the different maps. And I noticed
[00:03:16] that the little icon normally when you fast travel, you get the squawk ability taxi and
[00:03:24] it shows a little icon on the bottom right. But when you leave Katakami, you get a plane
[00:03:28] like a normal plane. And I didn't see an airport. I don't know where the airport is. Parachute
[00:03:32] you out. There's no landing strips. See Skipper Palladio because they'll like strip the plane
[00:03:39] if it lands. Yeah. Borbac in Palladio. And it's nice to be back. Yeah. And as you know,
[00:03:46] Joshua, we set ourselves a couple of goals last week. Yeah. We're back in the open world.
[00:03:51] We can do the wild area singer. Oh yeah. The wild area singer. I forgot about that. We're
[00:04:00] let loose here on the open world of Paldeo once again. We're kind of left to our own devices. So
[00:04:05] we decided that we're going to a get our car ride on and whatever thing yours is called. More
[00:04:11] ride on. You're more right in more ride on. Yeah. Fully souped up. We deserve it. And so
[00:04:19] does. So does. So does it. So does it. Yeah. And then we have a couple more star bases to tackle.
[00:04:28] I think last week in our hubris, we're like, we'll just clear out the last two star bases,
[00:04:33] not realizing that in fact there's three star bases left and that we are not quite leveled
[00:04:38] for the third one because Tanner gave it a shot and it got ugly. So we will be doing that at a
[00:04:43] later date. Looking at your levels, you might have a shot, but I definitely did. But I even
[00:04:49] at the fairy base, although that was mostly a type of matchup mayhem situation, I struggled
[00:04:56] a little bit even there. So I don't want to do the fighting base yet. Well, we're not doing
[00:05:00] either of those yet because first we have to get our car ride ons souped up Joshua. Oh yeah. And
[00:05:06] the first thing we have to do is go battle these things. And it's kind of the things we
[00:05:09] spent six minutes at the top of the episode talking about great tusk and iron fields,
[00:05:15] iron treads. We're out here. Arwen's out here. Arwen's dad is calling us on the phone and saying
[00:05:22] like this thing is fucked up. It's from the future or it's from the far past. It's called great tusk.
[00:05:30] Yeah, it's or iron treads. It seems like it's it's escaped from that area zero or the great
[00:05:37] crater or whatever. They all keep throwing those names around to. Yeah, but this is just a taste.
[00:05:42] This is a little appetizer. We don't get much more than this. We kill it and we send it back
[00:05:47] to whatever hell it came from. Yeah, you have to traverse this. And just quickly before we even get
[00:05:52] to talking about those Titans. This was the most disappointing tile set on all of Palladaia so far.
[00:05:59] The Asado Desert. Oh, yeah. First of all, I started off on a bad foot because as soon as I
[00:06:04] it's like way down like a crevasse. And once you jump down, I, of course, immediately landed
[00:06:12] directly on a capsule kid. They give you a little bit of grace. I think if you jump directly onto
[00:06:17] a Pokemon, you seem to kind of bounce off of it. But then it immediately attacks. I mean,
[00:06:21] it should have been flattened, but I had to fight it instead. Yeah. And then the whole desert itself
[00:06:27] is completely lifeless other than the Pokemon. But it's just it rendered poorly. Yeah, it's
[00:06:34] just sand at like not even dunes or something interesting. Yeah, it's just flat. This is not
[00:06:40] my Arrakis. No. Yeah, it did feel a little weird, but I had Rello out and we were just going spot
[00:06:46] to spot trying to clear out as many Pokemon as possible and get him to walk around, get him to
[00:06:51] walk around and evolve. But he's still a little rascal. He's really holding out on me. I'm so
[00:06:59] so anxious to see what it becomes. So this big thing, quaking earth type, what is yours
[00:07:05] in terms of typing? That's a good question. I killed it so quickly. I think they're both ground
[00:07:11] right. Mine is ground base and then mine is steel is the ground steel. So yeah, it's pretty easy. I
[00:07:18] have a number of. I took one look at it and figured probably steel. So I just I roasted it
[00:07:27] with my crocodile. In the process, they crack open the side of a mountain and give the herba mystica
[00:07:36] that good, good herba mystica. That good, good for all of us. And Arwen and I and
[00:07:43] Corridon and Arwen's stupid dog all shared it and all got a little bit more healthy.
[00:07:50] Whatever we get from this fight, he goes, oh, it says here it works wonders whether you're tired
[00:07:55] physically or mentally and perks you right up. Then the screen goes black. It's like this.
[00:07:59] Too many implications. Corridon eats the herba mystica and gets the ability to
[00:08:05] glide, fly. And it's extremely handy. I was really waiting for that one. And I like it
[00:08:12] that I guess it's pretty similar to the bravery in Arceus. Yeah, it's like it's a glide. It's
[00:08:17] got a pretty sense. But then once you start descending, he descends fast. You can't get the
[00:08:24] length that you were able to get out of the bravery. Yeah, you see a landmark off in the
[00:08:28] distance and you're like, I can do that. And then all of a sudden it's like, yeah, but it's cool.
[00:08:34] It's an it's a useful ability and it's especially useful to get to the next and final Titan that we
[00:08:41] have to do the false dragon, which was a nightmare. It's like, yeah, it's a nightmare. You want me to
[00:08:47] go and look up a walkthrough like that's what you want me to do. OK, fine. I guess I'll go look at
[00:08:52] a walkthrough on how to do this. I mean, of course, it is a little Mayor Chidi, but that was the
[00:08:57] right decision because I spent and you'll see that reflected where our level. I guess I think this
[00:09:03] must be the main reason that there will be a level differential because you get to these two islands
[00:09:10] where the marker is after like traversing this giant lake, Casa Roya Lake. And I thought
[00:09:18] because they keep talking, you get a call from Turo again. Yeah, yeah. And he's like,
[00:09:22] yeah, I hear this one. Like, I don't even know what to look for because it's called the false
[00:09:26] dragon Titan. So like, how do we know what it is if it's maybe not even a dragon? And so I thought
[00:09:31] and because there are Gyarados like floating around here. So I thought, oh, it's going to be
[00:09:35] a Gyarados. Well, and then there's also these huge Pokemon all around. You're like, I guess
[00:09:40] that's the Titan. So by the way, that's my you make me barf Pokemon of the week. Don Dozo.
[00:09:48] Don Dozo. I hate it. Yeah, it's not pretty. It's not pretty on this whole thing sucks because like
[00:09:55] I keep bumping into these Don Dozo being like, are you the Titan? And it's like, no,
[00:10:00] it's just a big Pokemon. OK, I guess I'll fight it. Yeah, I fought a bunch of those.
[00:10:04] I fought, I think, effectively every single Tatsugiri that lives on those two islands. So
[00:10:12] I figured it was like a fake out where it's going to be one of these little baby dragons.
[00:10:18] And I fought all of them. And I eventually well, first of all, on the other side of things,
[00:10:25] Tatsugiri is Joshi's sweetie. Tatsugiri is a lovely little guy.
[00:10:36] Yeah, I'm always bopping around running out of the water. It's a little sushi. There's three
[00:10:41] of them. Yeah, droopy form, colorful, stretchy form and curly for lovely. All cute. Very powerful.
[00:10:47] There's one there's one on one tip of the southern island that is screaming the word
[00:10:54] Titan. Yeah, eventually I made it to that one. And then I was like, oh,
[00:10:59] I thought like, oh, it must have something to do with what they're saying. But they all just
[00:11:03] kept saying like sushi or whatever. Yeah. And then that one was very obvious in retrospect.
[00:11:09] And once you engage that one, it gets eaten by a Don Dozo. And then it becomes clear that they've
[00:11:16] got a they got like a combo thing going on. Yeah. What is it's not like a symbiotic
[00:11:21] relationship because one is being eaten. It's a maki combination.
[00:11:26] Yes, that's in to quote Qui-Gon Jinn. There's always a bigger fish.
[00:11:31] Great, great quote. That's what he says when they're on the Gungan Bongo
[00:11:35] having just escaped a big fish. But we're not on the Gungan Bongo, Joshua. We're flying down
[00:11:41] on Coridon's beautiful new wings, landing on the island, taking on this big Don Buru.
[00:11:50] And then is that what it's called? Don Buru? Don Dozo. Don Dozo. I think Don Buru is like
[00:11:56] a anime website. How big is this thing? 39 feet, four inches.
[00:12:04] Don Buru is a rice bowl dish. We have to chase it around. It sucks because he's always he's running
[00:12:11] its water. There's like a ton of Pokemon about. He's always like going back into the water.
[00:12:16] It's animated poorly. It was funny, though. It looked like it was just basically taking
[00:12:21] a cursor in Photoshop and then dragging Don Dozo back under the water.
[00:12:26] The opacity goes to like zero. Yeah, but in the process, he, of course,
[00:12:31] unlocks a little Erebomistica for us, which he tries to eat himself. But then we hammer him
[00:12:37] alongside. Now, Billy's thing is he just grabs whatever Pokemon's nearby.
[00:12:42] He had a he had the villain one, I think, on this battle.
[00:12:46] Scovillan. Oh, yeah. Scovillan. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He'll just sort of grab who's ever around. He's
[00:12:52] not really he's only loyal to one Pokemon, the Mabost Mabost if that is true and the Mabost if
[00:12:59] is doing much better now that it's eaten a little more Erebomistica.
[00:13:05] Yeah. Speaking of Mabost, if when you get this, excuse me, Mabostica, it says it gives your
[00:13:10] circulation a boost. It helps flush out all those toxins along with a ton of sweat.
[00:13:16] Yeah, I guess maybe that was his problem is just retaining.
[00:13:20] So you you chow down on that in the cave. Yeah.
[00:13:24] He comes back to life. Yeah, he sort of perks up. I could not be
[00:13:27] less interested in this dog or Arwen and their like emotional journey.
[00:13:31] This is a beautiful storyline where he like he's tearing up and he's like Mabost if now you can
[00:13:38] finally like throw we could finally toss the pokeball around just like the old times. And
[00:13:44] then he like throws the ball and the dog like limply sits there and then Arwen like turns
[00:13:50] away to like cry. Yeah, I didn't cry. And then I didn't really connect.
[00:13:54] Mabost gets up and picks up the ball and then he comes he's invigorated again and then he gives
[00:14:01] Arwen the ball and then they hug and it's a joyous, beautiful reunion.
[00:14:06] I liked it. Fine.
[00:14:07] I like it. I fed my urban mystica to Coridon and now he can climb sheer cliffs most of the time.
[00:14:15] Sometimes he'll find one where he just slides down. There's nothing I can do about it.
[00:14:19] I actually didn't even give this one a whirl yet. Oh, it's pretty fun. It works pretty well,
[00:14:23] especially in conjunction with glide mode because you can just kind of climb to the top of Mount
[00:14:29] Glaciato and jump off. So we have all the
[00:14:32] Breath of the Wild abilities. Yes, we're unlocked.
[00:14:36] Coridon is fully unlocked. We met our
[00:14:40] you make me barf Pokemon of the week and now we finally have to go do these.
[00:14:43] And sweetie. Starvaces!
[00:14:45] Joshua. But a teaser for an upcoming episode is that
[00:14:49] Turo calls you and Arwen overhears it and then Turo's like, oh, you're with my kid?
[00:14:54] And then like Arwen, I guess they haven't talked in a long time.
[00:14:58] Not really any of my business. Apparently Arwen is the only one who can get
[00:15:01] into that like lab lighthouse that we were at in the very beginning of the game.
[00:15:05] Yeah, that's kind of the next on my agenda list. We're not quite done with the Titan hunt.
[00:15:11] Maybe Coridon has more Urbomystica to eat. Oh right. It's because he can't battle yet.
[00:15:16] He's not strong enough to battle yet. That's what Turo says or someone says to us.
[00:15:20] Like, yeah, Turo. Glad Coridon's feeling better, but like still not Boss Hog yet.
[00:15:25] We got to get that thing back in the ring. Well, not me.
[00:15:30] Not really a Pokemon battler. Just a guy with his buds.
[00:15:32] Right. And it's just your motorcycle.
[00:15:38] I am on my way, Joshua. Now we head east or did you do?
[00:15:46] I did them out of order, which was clear based on the levels.
[00:15:49] Even before I did the Titans, I did the Team Star Poison base first.
[00:15:56] It's isolated on the east side, whereas these other three things are all on the west side.
[00:16:00] So west and north. I don't know if you saw that Mythbusters,
[00:16:04] where they were like blindfolded in a field. And it turns out that when you're blindfolded,
[00:16:07] you just walk in a big spiral. What was the myth that they're busting?
[00:16:12] I guess that. Like you could get around blindfolded.
[00:16:17] Anyway, that's what happens to me in Rallor when we're really cruising,
[00:16:21] trying to get those steps in. Yeah.
[00:16:23] We'll kind of end up on whichever side of the map.
[00:16:25] Well, so do you want to talk about the poison base or?
[00:16:28] Yeah, let's go to the poison base. No poison. Okay.
[00:16:30] The story, I think also makes more sense if you go to the poison base first,
[00:16:35] because there's quite a lot of plot after each star base falls.
[00:16:38] Yeah. After each one, they give you more and more.
[00:16:42] Yeah. Building on the last one.
[00:16:43] I got to the poison base and there was a...
[00:16:47] Tag tree thicket.
[00:16:48] The tag tree thicket, which is, I don't know. It was like as described, it was full of
[00:16:55] bugs and plant type Pokemon and dark type Pokemon.
[00:16:59] Except for one thing that I found right in front of it before we get into the thicket
[00:17:06] in the East Province Area three, I think the romantic East Province Area three.
[00:17:12] Oh yeah. And I don't know what to issue.
[00:17:15] And maybe it's just a neutral, but I have kind of a what is this sweetie or bar for the week?
[00:17:22] Citadel. Did you see this thing?
[00:17:24] Oh yes.
[00:17:27] Do we like it or do we not like it?
[00:17:29] Citadel.
[00:17:30] You know what I think? I did like it a lot.
[00:17:33] I think I like it.
[00:17:34] Yeah, it's cute.
[00:17:35] I think so.
[00:17:36] And it kind of grew up into something that I thought was also kind of fun.
[00:17:39] Oh, it evolves. I haven't seen the evolved one.
[00:17:41] Oh wow. Oh my God. The evolved one is kind of making bedroom eyes at me.
[00:17:46] Cititan.
[00:17:47] Is yours making bedroom eyes at you?
[00:17:49] Yeah. Big time.
[00:17:51] Wow. What do you do with those horns?
[00:17:53] Ooh, and I like that it's shiny gives it sort of like orca colors.
[00:17:58] Yeah.
[00:17:59] Except for the orange.
[00:18:01] It's a descendant of whalemers that must have somehow crawled out of the sea and they live on
[00:18:08] the land now.
[00:18:08] Interesting. This is like a fan theory of yours.
[00:18:11] No, I read that. I read that on a Bulbapedia.
[00:18:14] Oh, so it's a fan theory of somebody on Bulbapedia.
[00:18:16] So I guess maybe it is. Maybe it is also a fan theory, but it's not my fan theory.
[00:18:23] Let me try to remember what this little thing was walking around in here.
[00:18:27] What was this place called?
[00:18:29] Mirkwood Forest.
[00:18:30] Tag tree thicket.
[00:18:31] Tag tree thicket. One second.
[00:18:36] Did you get a peek at
[00:18:40] Grafie-fi?
[00:18:42] Grafie-
[00:18:44] Grafie-i?
[00:18:45] What?
[00:18:46] Did you get a peek at Grafie-i?
[00:18:48] Are you having a stroke?
[00:18:50] No, it's what Shrewdl evolves into. Maybe it's an exclusive to mine.
[00:18:54] I have Shrewdl.
[00:18:56] Toxic monkey Pokemon.
[00:18:57] Whoa, I did not see one of those.
[00:19:00] On the one hand, it's interesting looking. It's got big ears and big eyes, kind of cute.
[00:19:05] On the other hand, it's goopy.
[00:19:07] Yeah, it's got goop on its fingers.
[00:19:10] Yeah. So I don't love that.
[00:19:12] I really don't like the shiny version of it either.
[00:19:15] Goopier?
[00:19:16] Grafie-i. Just uglier colors.
[00:19:19] Grafie-i. Yeah, that's a confusing one.
[00:19:22] Grafie-i.
[00:19:23] That was another one where at first I was like, oh, it might be cute because it's got big ears,
[00:19:27] big eyes, but goopy fingers bad.
[00:19:30] It's not like a big monkey fan in general.
[00:19:33] Yeah, I think that one's the counter to Citattle.
[00:19:36] Oh, I see.
[00:19:38] I noticed there were a couple because I caught a
[00:19:42] Hawlucha.
[00:19:43] Hawlucha? That's a guy.
[00:19:44] And they added that their mortal enemy is primates.
[00:19:49] And I like that it is it is retconning in a sense, but I like that now that they have
[00:19:55] a region that's got all the Pokemon in it, they started building out the relationships
[00:19:59] between them more.
[00:20:00] Yeah.
[00:20:01] In the Zangoose, Seviper sort of original model.
[00:20:05] Yeah, yeah. For you lore heads, it's a real treat.
[00:20:08] Yeah. Yep. It's right up Joshie's alley.
[00:20:12] But Grafie-i is not.
[00:20:17] There was a guy out front.
[00:20:19] Oh, the compadre?
[00:20:21] Is that what he calls you?
[00:20:23] Are we are we at the the poison crew base now?
[00:20:27] Yeah, poison crew base.
[00:20:28] Yeah, the guard, the little the child kid calls himself a compadre.
[00:20:33] Yeah, yeah.
[00:20:33] This is like a Don Atticus.
[00:20:36] Yeah, he's a God, Don Atticus is so fucking cool.
[00:20:39] He is Academy.
[00:20:41] That's my mortal enemy.
[00:20:43] Don Joey's mortal enemy.
[00:20:44] He is a false Don.
[00:20:46] He's so cool.
[00:20:47] False Don.
[00:20:48] He's so much cooler than you.
[00:20:49] His outfit's so cool.
[00:20:51] His outfit was really fucking cool.
[00:20:53] Yeah, there's this boy out front and he tries to stop you.
[00:20:55] He's just like a student.
[00:20:56] He wants to join this star base, the poison crew.
[00:21:00] But he is very easily dispatched.
[00:21:03] And then you're in.
[00:21:05] Yes.
[00:21:05] You do the normal 30 Pokemon thing.
[00:21:08] I had equipped Billy Eilish's or sorry, Fiona Eilish's.
[00:21:13] No relation.
[00:21:13] Cornerstone mask.
[00:21:16] For this gym so that she could be grass rock type for these little poison boys.
[00:21:24] We tore through the 30 Pokemon and then we were up against Atticus.
[00:21:27] Same.
[00:21:27] Atticus is so cool.
[00:21:30] Colorful, beautiful Atticus in his like, I don't know what would you even call that thing?
[00:21:37] Like a face shawl of some sort, kind of like something you might see the Freeman of Arrakis
[00:21:44] wear.
[00:21:44] Definitely.
[00:21:45] It's definitely in that mold.
[00:21:46] He refers to himself as trying to like go down the path of the ninja, I think.
[00:21:51] So it's sort of like Freeman ninja combo.
[00:21:54] Yeah, he kind of does this thing every time he puts he throws a Pokeball in.
[00:21:58] He grabs at like a katana like he's like pulling out a sword, but instead he throws a Pokeball.
[00:22:03] He was pretty rad.
[00:22:04] I would say.
[00:22:06] I mean, in the canon of the game, Don Joey hates him because he can be the one true Don.
[00:22:12] But to me, Don Atticus is probably my favorite, especially because the lore you get out of like
[00:22:18] his backstory after is that people at the academy like bullied him for liking old fashioned stuff.
[00:22:26] And then he called them the unrefined rabble.
[00:22:28] And I'm pretty sure I've described people like the unrefined rabble before.
[00:22:32] Yeah, you described me that way.
[00:22:34] Yeah, that's what I meant by people.
[00:22:36] Yeah.
[00:22:37] So I like his attitude.
[00:22:38] I like his look.
[00:22:39] He also he refers to somebody as the infernal eerie.
[00:22:43] Did you pick that up?
[00:22:44] Like his costume, his little outfit?
[00:22:47] He said he was trying to make it worthy of the great infernal eerie.
[00:22:52] And I don't know who that is.
[00:22:54] So that's some other.
[00:22:56] No.
[00:22:56] Yeah, I mean, some other character we're going to meet that you'll name something a lot.
[00:23:00] They throw a lot of stuff after after these star bases.
[00:23:03] There's quite a lot because Clive is always out here, too.
[00:23:06] Yeah, can't forget about Clive.
[00:23:07] The Clive stuff is just like impossible to follow.
[00:23:10] And the dialogue starts steering into it.
[00:23:12] Like when you greet him here, I think he when he, you know, saunters up to you,
[00:23:17] your dialogue options are like, oh, hey, Clive.
[00:23:19] Like, oh, hey, hey, Clavel.
[00:23:21] Yeah.
[00:23:22] And if you say that, then he's like, no, I told you it's Clive.
[00:23:25] Yeah, it's like, OK, so we all know what the joke is here.
[00:23:28] We get a little bit of story after this one, too.
[00:23:30] Yeah, that Atticus is a costumer.
[00:23:33] Also very cool.
[00:23:34] Yes.
[00:23:35] Cool thing to be.
[00:23:36] Costumer training is himself in the way of the ninja.
[00:23:40] You also find out that Operation Star was some means.
[00:23:45] We don't know what the operation is yet, but we're about to was some kind of operation
[00:23:50] to make the academy like more welcoming for kids like the compadre, the little kid.
[00:23:56] Yeah, we start to get a little bit of story that like bullying campaign.
[00:23:59] Yeah, this started as like a yeah, after school program for bullied kids.
[00:24:04] Yeah, that's what it seems like.
[00:24:06] And look what it's evolved into.
[00:24:07] Yeah, so we beat him.
[00:24:09] It's the same typical thing.
[00:24:10] He's got poison type Pokemon.
[00:24:12] Absolutely no issue.
[00:24:13] Skuntank, Rebaroom, Muk and the Navi Starmobile.
[00:24:19] Frustrating that Atticus gets the Navi Starmobile, even though we're about to go to the Fairy
[00:24:25] Crew Base, which seems like Navi is a fairy.
[00:24:27] Should be the Navi Starmobile.
[00:24:29] Crew bases.
[00:24:30] Let's get to it.
[00:24:31] So now we're off.
[00:24:32] We have a long trek, long trek to get to it.
[00:24:35] Let's all maybe take a break.
[00:24:37] Go use the bathroom, grab a seltzer.
[00:24:41] Oh, you're welcoming everyone to the break this time.
[00:24:44] It's not a trick.
[00:24:46] And then we'll hit the long road out to the fairy type star base.
[00:24:50] Okay, I'll see you there after this break.
[00:24:58] Welcome back, podcasters.
[00:25:00] Welcome back, Joshua.
[00:25:01] Welcome back to Pal-tia.
[00:25:02] Oh, we are on our way to take on Ortega, the fairy type star base.
[00:25:11] Master.
[00:25:11] Way at the foot of the Glaciado Mountain.
[00:25:17] Yeah.
[00:25:18] We have to scale the mountain.
[00:25:19] Which is easy because we can climb.
[00:25:22] Sounds like you chose not to.
[00:25:23] Oh, no, actually, yeah, I had done the Titan by now.
[00:25:27] I don't know why I didn't do that.
[00:25:28] It's okay.
[00:25:28] I guess I forgot.
[00:25:31] There is a path that you could follow and I did that, I think because I specifically was
[00:25:35] trying to get to a Pokemon Center and it was in like the foothills or something.
[00:25:40] What'd you see out here?
[00:25:41] I saw a couple of things out here.
[00:25:44] Once again, although I think it's been a couple of seasons since I had to
[00:25:48] follow my sword about this, but did encounter some Cubchus.
[00:25:53] It's boogers, Josh.
[00:25:54] That's not.
[00:25:55] I am trying to fill up my Pokédex.
[00:25:57] So I caught one and I have a Pokéchecks.
[00:26:05] Update on Cubchu is that it's only gotten worse.
[00:26:08] Yeah, of course.
[00:26:10] The entry says when Cubchu starts sneezing, watch out.
[00:26:14] That's not awful.
[00:26:15] If it splatters you with its frosty snot, you'll get frostbite.
[00:26:18] You know what's already bad?
[00:26:20] Getting boogers on you.
[00:26:22] And you know what's worse?
[00:26:23] The boogers hurt.
[00:26:24] Would you want that on your team?
[00:26:27] No, thank you.
[00:26:28] You can get sick, could die like you could basically die from this.
[00:26:32] You die for a lot of things.
[00:26:34] The Scarlet one said too that if a Cubchu lacks its dangling snot, there's a chance it's sick.
[00:26:40] Good.
[00:26:41] So you need it.
[00:26:43] You need it if you want one of these things on your team.
[00:26:44] It's only healthy if there's snot coming out.
[00:26:46] You want it to have snot all the time.
[00:26:49] And the snot could then kill you.
[00:26:52] Every Pokémon is somebody's favorite Pokémon and if yours is Cubchu, shame on you.
[00:27:01] I encountered something quite lovely while I was climbing Glaciato Mountain, actually.
[00:27:07] Oh good.
[00:27:08] My sweetie, Tanny sweetie.
[00:27:10] What was that?
[00:27:10] Fridgy bags.
[00:27:17] Whoa, what is this?
[00:27:20] I didn't see this.
[00:27:20] Is it a virgin exclusive?
[00:27:22] No, it can't be.
[00:27:23] It's too cute.
[00:27:23] Oh, it's so cute.
[00:27:26] I was worried that the little yellow things were snot.
[00:27:28] I don't think it is.
[00:27:30] No, they're little feathers.
[00:27:32] Because it evolves into something called Archibax, also very cute.
[00:27:36] And then it becomes clear that it's like little claws or feathers.
[00:27:39] Arctibax.
[00:27:40] Oh, I like that too.
[00:27:42] Ooh, Baxcalibur.
[00:27:43] Ooh, it's got Calibur in the name.
[00:27:45] Oh yeah, that's sword business.
[00:27:46] Could be good.
[00:27:48] That is sword business there.
[00:27:49] It's a dragon, might have to tame another dragon.
[00:27:52] It's a dragon with a sword embedded in its back.
[00:27:54] I didn't see this though.
[00:27:56] God, this is rad.
[00:27:57] I really like this whole situation.
[00:28:00] Yeah, and Fridgy Bax is just such a little cutie,
[00:28:03] glomping around like a little angry puss on its face all the time.
[00:28:08] I loved it.
[00:28:09] Tanny sweetie, A plus.
[00:28:13] Fridgy Bax.
[00:28:14] Oh, I got to go find that.
[00:28:16] I got to go take a look at that.
[00:28:17] Yeah, they were all over the mountain.
[00:28:19] Fridgy Bax.
[00:28:20] You just got to get off the beaten trail.
[00:28:22] You got to Tad Howard it.
[00:28:23] Yeah, I guess I have to just climb around.
[00:28:25] Yeah, what a cutie.
[00:28:27] It was kind of a hard week for Barfuse this week.
[00:28:30] Yeah, I might even have one more sweetie lying in the wings.
[00:28:34] There was a lot of talent out here.
[00:28:36] I got up the mountain and then jumped off of it
[00:28:38] and glid down about a quarter of the way
[00:28:41] and then had to kind of jump again
[00:28:42] and glide down in about another quarter of the way
[00:28:44] and then eventually found a Pokemon center
[00:28:46] and run down to the ferry base.
[00:28:49] There's been a couple of towns on the way.
[00:28:53] I specifically didn't go into it yet.
[00:28:55] What's the fucking point of the towns?
[00:28:57] Yeah, there was like a Porto Marinara here.
[00:29:00] There was Zappa Zapico in the other area we were just in
[00:29:06] and they're all just like window dressing.
[00:29:08] Everything is so surface level in this game.
[00:29:11] They all just have sandwich shops and like ice cream shops.
[00:29:15] It's like Joe Biden's America.
[00:29:17] There's zero encouragement to go into these towns
[00:29:20] and explore any of these places
[00:29:21] because it's like, what?
[00:29:22] I'm going to find my like eighth sock shop.
[00:29:25] Like, I don't need fucking socks.
[00:29:27] Well, yes, this is my number one complaint.
[00:29:30] We got that teal card that's supposed to unlock
[00:29:33] all these cool new fashions.
[00:29:35] And then I even took the time to go back to Mesa Goza
[00:29:39] because I thought like, you know, that's the capital.
[00:29:42] It must have the most cultural capital,
[00:29:43] you know, the most shops to go to.
[00:29:45] And even that clothing store still only had like gloves
[00:29:50] and sunglasses and hats.
[00:29:51] And I'm like, where do I just get a fucking shirt?
[00:29:54] I think it's because we're students.
[00:29:55] We have to be in the dress code.
[00:29:57] But I'm wearing the kimono stuff still.
[00:29:59] I can't even figure out my old clothes.
[00:30:02] Yeah, me neither.
[00:30:03] Where do I?
[00:30:04] I'm still in like kid Akame gear and everyone's like,
[00:30:06] why are you dressed like that?
[00:30:08] I was like, I don't know how to change.
[00:30:10] Cub shoes are giving me frostbite because I'm just wearing a dress.
[00:30:14] My hair's up in like a bun still.
[00:30:15] Yeah, like what?
[00:30:17] How hard is it?
[00:30:19] Get rid of some of the sandwich shops and just give us clothing shops,
[00:30:22] like boutiques like we used to get in all the other towns.
[00:30:25] It's such an interesting thing because the game does kind of suck.
[00:30:28] It's glitchy.
[00:30:29] There's like graphical errors all over the place.
[00:30:31] It's lazy every now and then, like during the cut scenes,
[00:30:34] like something will just shift and there'll be like a line
[00:30:37] of pixels on the left side and it's like you guys couldn't even like
[00:30:40] get that layer pushed over a little bit more, you know?
[00:30:43] And it's like it's all kind of fine because the game is still kind of pretty fun.
[00:30:47] Yeah, I'm still having a good time,
[00:30:48] but it just really is like truly we do not need every single Pokemon in the game.
[00:30:54] They just like shat it out and they're like,
[00:30:56] everyone's like, hey, this is pretty like busted.
[00:30:58] And they're like, yeah, you bought it idiot.
[00:31:01] And we're going to keep buying it.
[00:31:03] That's what they know.
[00:31:04] It's fine.
[00:31:05] I guess that's just our relationship with Pokemon now.
[00:31:07] It's cool.
[00:31:08] I'm hopeful that the fact there is not going to be a release this year
[00:31:12] and that 2025 is the next round is like they are taking a little bit more time,
[00:31:18] fortunately, but you know, we'll see if that's off.
[00:31:21] It's still fun.
[00:31:22] We're still having fun.
[00:31:24] I then finally jumped down.
[00:31:26] Yeah.
[00:31:26] I would say we're getting to the point now around this fairy crew base
[00:31:31] where the levels are starting to get a little dicey.
[00:31:33] Yes.
[00:31:34] I also don't understand, like certain areas on the mountain had wild level 50 to like 55 Pokemon,
[00:31:42] which is also, you know, then I can actually have a real battle.
[00:31:45] But then some of the trainers are still like level 28.
[00:31:48] I know.
[00:31:49] I'm like, what?
[00:31:50] What's the calculus for when certain things?
[00:31:54] They disincentivize doing things like visiting the trainers
[00:31:58] because it's like it just takes four minutes to kill all your Pokemon in one hit
[00:32:03] for like an amount of money that's meaningless to me
[00:32:06] because there's so much shit strewn around on the grounds
[00:32:11] that like I have endless numbers of every Pokeball, every kind of healing thing.
[00:32:17] I just keep finding them everywhere.
[00:32:19] They try to incentivize you with the dudes who hang out at some of the Pokemon centers.
[00:32:23] But even that shit is bad.
[00:32:25] Yeah, I've gotten a couple of good items from them.
[00:32:28] I got a punching glove on this leg, which is like for Pokemon that use punching moves
[00:32:34] like that.
[00:32:34] They can put those on and it protects them from like getting,
[00:32:38] you know, static or whatever, like abilities don't affect them.
[00:32:41] But yes, we figured out finally solve the age old problem of who keeps giving all these
[00:32:45] Pokemon clothes.
[00:32:46] It turns out it's Josh.
[00:32:48] Well, it's it's me and it's these, you know, whatever.
[00:32:52] What's the corporation here?
[00:32:54] There's no corporation.
[00:32:55] Who's who are these?
[00:32:56] That's also upsetting to me.
[00:32:57] Now I'm getting upset.
[00:32:59] Yeah.
[00:33:00] Who do they represent?
[00:33:01] Who are they working for?
[00:33:02] Who's putting up these like Poke stations?
[00:33:04] I actually I think they might say I need to check that.
[00:33:07] And I guess it's all just Academy property.
[00:33:09] We're yeah, we're on school grounds, aren't we?
[00:33:12] Is the Academy is just the corporation.
[00:33:15] That's weird.
[00:33:16] It's DeVry.
[00:33:17] All right.
[00:33:18] City of Phoenix.
[00:33:19] Here we are pulling up to the fairy base and Ortega's this beautiful boy
[00:33:27] who runs the fairy base.
[00:33:29] Yeah, he's strapping flamboyant.
[00:33:31] He gets very confrontational with you when you battle him.
[00:33:35] He's like fairy types just aren't about being cute.
[00:33:37] And he's like the cutest boy trainer in the world.
[00:33:41] He looks like that one.
[00:33:42] Did you do Yu-Gi-Oh!
[00:33:43] The animated series?
[00:33:45] Certainly not.
[00:33:45] Oh, he looks exactly like Weevil Underwood.
[00:33:50] OK, very confusing.
[00:33:52] You just said I approached the the base.
[00:33:56] The fairy crew base and Ortega is being visited by a tutor.
[00:34:01] Mr. Harrington.
[00:34:03] Mr. Harrington, who was the former head of Naranja.
[00:34:09] He was the director of the Academy.
[00:34:11] We were Uba, we find out.
[00:34:14] And he's there to teach Ortega piano lessons and apparently has no fucking problem with
[00:34:18] the fact that they're all living like Lord of the Flies style and like a barricaded base.
[00:34:23] He's like, yep, I'll go in there and teach a kid piano.
[00:34:25] If the price is right.
[00:34:27] Yeah, but first he wants to battle us.
[00:34:30] This is the one I would probably settle down in.
[00:34:33] The tag tree thicket was pretty nice, too.
[00:34:35] But this is a all the flowers.
[00:34:38] It's got a stream going into it.
[00:34:40] It's on the coast.
[00:34:41] It's got like a light.
[00:34:42] Oh, yeah, lovely.
[00:34:43] I feel like fairy base.
[00:34:45] This would I'd retire here.
[00:34:46] Nice, nice part of the woods.
[00:34:48] Yeah, I fought Harrington and he had a morgrim.
[00:34:51] But I think for you, it's different.
[00:34:53] No, I had a morgrim.
[00:34:54] You would have had.
[00:34:55] I had the hat room.
[00:34:56] Yeah, oh yeah, you're right.
[00:34:57] I thought a bunch of morgrim and impidimps in the in the Merkwood forest.
[00:35:03] They were all over it.
[00:35:04] Oh yeah, the thicket was teeming with them.
[00:35:06] Harrington had a hat room.
[00:35:08] Yes, level 48, 49 for me.
[00:35:11] They're like, oh, I guess it should be a little harder.
[00:35:13] Yeah, that's weird.
[00:35:16] Yeah, strange.
[00:35:18] And I beat it easily.
[00:35:20] Yeah, even though the levels that's a pretty high level 49 now.
[00:35:23] Yeah, this was this base was on par with where I was getting up there.
[00:35:28] Yeah.
[00:35:29] And then we are in a star barrage.
[00:35:32] I guess that's the scientific name for when we have to fight 30 Pokemon in 10 minutes.
[00:35:36] Yeah, they also should have scaled this.
[00:35:38] Here's my thing about this.
[00:35:40] It's way too easy.
[00:35:41] It's kind of fun.
[00:35:42] It's kind of fun sending your guys out.
[00:35:43] You have to go find the like vending machines to kind of heal up.
[00:35:46] It's like it's not a bad challenge.
[00:35:48] It's just like 10 minutes is way too long.
[00:35:51] Give me two minutes.
[00:35:52] Two minutes is hard.
[00:35:53] Yeah, exactly.
[00:35:54] It would be a challenge to do the levels at the levels of these Pokemon rat.
[00:35:58] It would be a challenge to do it in two minutes.
[00:36:00] But 10 minutes is just a joke.
[00:36:02] Even like the first one we took on 10 minutes was a joke.
[00:36:05] Like it should start it like, you know, what are there?
[00:36:08] There's like six of these bases.
[00:36:10] It should have just started at like six or seven.
[00:36:13] And then it shaves off a minute each time you go to a different base so that you're
[00:36:17] eventually down to like two or even.
[00:36:19] Yeah, I mean, maybe a minute is not even possible.
[00:36:21] But two is good.
[00:36:22] And you have three Pokemon.
[00:36:23] And if you make a wrong call, like they're going to get whaled out pretty quickly.
[00:36:27] But you can always heal them.
[00:36:29] There's a ton of vending machines around.
[00:36:31] And then we're off to fight Ortega.
[00:36:35] Ortega.
[00:36:35] Who is all fairy types.
[00:36:38] Azumarill, Wigglytuff, Doxbun.
[00:36:41] On top of the coolest rever room yet.
[00:36:45] Tanner, sweetie.
[00:36:45] Tanny, sweetie.
[00:36:47] The Rookba Starmobile.
[00:36:50] Yeah, this one I thought looked great.
[00:36:53] Yeah, I did too.
[00:36:54] But we should talk about Pokemon subjugation real quick.
[00:36:57] Oh yeah, we get after you fight him, we get a lot of reveals out of this.
[00:37:02] Because I do like the Rookba Starmobile.
[00:37:06] But now I'm feeling a little torn about the Starmobile stuff in general.
[00:37:10] Because there is a little bit of Pokemon subjugation going on.
[00:37:13] There is.
[00:37:13] And Ortega's kind of like the mechanic.
[00:37:16] I don't know.
[00:37:17] He was sort of responsible for figuring out how to make these things powerful enough or something.
[00:37:23] Yeah, it's because in the flashback 18 months ago,
[00:37:28] Ortega says to the other Team Star leaders that he was like,
[00:37:32] I'll just have Mother buy us each a car.
[00:37:35] Then the other one is like, no, we all swore a pact to stop relying on our parents
[00:37:41] and their bags of money to solve all our problems.
[00:37:44] So then you get a little bit more like color to this whole thing,
[00:37:47] which is like, okay, well, they were being bullied by the other kids at the academy.
[00:37:51] But also they're all like rich little brats.
[00:37:55] So nobody is innocent.
[00:37:57] It's revealed that they're using Char Kadets.
[00:38:00] Right, so he engineers a solution which is powering them with Char Kadets.
[00:38:07] Two Char Kadets.
[00:38:08] But it's not strong enough.
[00:38:09] So then he decides that maybe this is Atticus, I kind of lost track.
[00:38:13] They decide that they're gonna go train up their Char Kadets
[00:38:17] so that they become whatever Char Kadets turn into.
[00:38:20] Mine isn't that yet.
[00:38:21] Yeah.
[00:38:21] So that's not great.
[00:38:23] We don't love that.
[00:38:24] That's got Rotom vibes on it and I don't love it.
[00:38:26] No, no.
[00:38:28] But I think it-
[00:38:29] Don't love it.
[00:38:29] I think they look cool and I would like to do it if I can.
[00:38:33] I hope you can.
[00:38:34] Okay, thank you.
[00:38:35] Other than the subjugation part.
[00:38:37] We also got like, we get TM, so I got like Dazzling Gleam.
[00:38:40] I don't know.
[00:38:40] Yeah, Clive shows up.
[00:38:42] I guess Mr. Harrington.
[00:38:44] Yeah, that's when we learn he was Clive's predecessor.
[00:38:48] And then this was a little convoluted but I guess the thing was that
[00:38:51] Operation Star was when these rich kids teamed up to like take down their bullies
[00:39:01] and then before they could kill them presumably or whatever they were going to do.
[00:39:05] Those students all dropped out.
[00:39:08] And then there's corruption, like Harrington's deputy deleted the records of this all happening
[00:39:14] and then they-
[00:39:15] One student took the fall for all of them who I presume is like the secret boss.
[00:39:18] The cutscenes after these Starbases are a hunk of wine.
[00:39:20] And then they were sentenced to 18 months studying abroad.
[00:39:24] Yeah, like a penal colony.
[00:39:25] None of this is like live acted for us.
[00:39:28] This is all like things that Harrington is telling us.
[00:39:32] We're just there.
[00:39:33] I wasn't slamming A because I was just trying to like follow all the red threads
[00:39:38] but you're just sitting there and like hearing this all.
[00:39:41] There is some cutscenes, like flashback cutscenes,
[00:39:43] but the flashback cutscenes are also just people standing around talking.
[00:39:47] It's just the team Star Leader is like having conversations.
[00:39:53] Yeah.
[00:39:53] And then you are done with it and then Cassapia calls you and she's like,
[00:39:57] we have to talk for 10 minutes.
[00:39:59] Okay.
[00:40:01] Great.
[00:40:01] You're right.
[00:40:02] The Starbases are almost closed.
[00:40:04] We're almost there.
[00:40:05] And then-
[00:40:06] Yeah, we got one left.
[00:40:07] Always the Tumblr kid comes to visit as soon as Cassapia hangs up.
[00:40:11] Right.
[00:40:12] That's always a cutscene.
[00:40:14] And the alt kid like seems to be-
[00:40:17] Karidon loves the alt kid.
[00:40:19] But the alt kid, the Tumblr kid seems like not really picking a side
[00:40:24] but seems like they're opposed more to the Team Star people.
[00:40:28] Yeah.
[00:40:29] They're terminally online.
[00:40:30] They have no idea what's going on in the real world.
[00:40:33] Yeah.
[00:40:34] Yeah, and then we're off and that's it.
[00:40:35] We're done.
[00:40:37] We've vanquished the enemies this week.
[00:40:39] We forgot to talk about our team.
[00:40:41] Should we do that real quick before we go?
[00:40:43] Yeah.
[00:40:43] Oh.
[00:40:44] Well, I guess we should because are we going to be battling
[00:40:47] or are you going to-
[00:40:49] Oh, do you have time?
[00:40:49] Back down?
[00:40:50] Do you have time to battle?
[00:40:51] Okay.
[00:40:51] Yeah.
[00:40:52] Well, let's talk about the teams we're going to bring into this battle
[00:40:55] in our hit segment, Level Check.
[00:40:57] Level Check.
[00:40:58] Why don't you, you know, lay out the floor?
[00:41:03] I'll lay out the ceiling.
[00:41:04] We did our absolute best this week, me and Redlor.
[00:41:08] We were running all over the place, charging at things,
[00:41:12] hitting things with our big balls of poop.
[00:41:14] I got in the mix too.
[00:41:15] I was rolling around poop.
[00:41:16] Excuse me.
[00:41:16] It was like-
[00:41:17] Oh my god.
[00:41:17] Just really tried to embrace Gregor Samsa, Level 50,
[00:41:22] but he still won't evolve into whatever Redlor is involved into.
[00:41:25] Wow.
[00:41:26] It really did not take long for us to get to level 50.
[00:41:30] Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
[00:41:30] It didn't take me that long to get Palmo to walk 1000 steps.
[00:41:33] Donna Baker, Meow-scaratta, Level 44.
[00:41:37] Not a lot of action this week.
[00:41:38] It's fine.
[00:41:39] It's fine.
[00:41:39] Gregor Samsa was out quite a lot this week.
[00:41:42] Apparently.
[00:41:42] Donna's car, Reverum, Level 46.
[00:41:46] That's not bad.
[00:41:47] Fiona Eilish, Ogre Pawn, Level 37.
[00:41:52] I think maybe still in Cornerstone.
[00:41:53] That's pathetic.
[00:41:55] Oh, don't wait till you fucking fight her.
[00:41:57] Pathetic.
[00:41:59] I think you will find that it's not pathetic.
[00:42:01] Okay.
[00:42:02] I don't have any legendaries on my team.
[00:42:04] Could've been Kobo, O, semi or whatever.
[00:42:07] Semi-hard.
[00:42:08] Yeah, it's pseudo.
[00:42:09] Pseudo legendary.
[00:42:10] Lady Beth, Char Cadet, Level 43.
[00:42:12] I haven't been bringing her out very much because I want to get her her armor,
[00:42:16] but we haven't had time to go on that quest yet.
[00:42:19] I think we went by the area where you do it.
[00:42:23] Okay.
[00:42:23] I'll just have to go do it.
[00:42:25] So you can do that next week.
[00:42:27] And then on ice, Margo Pence, Tinkerton, Level 48.
[00:42:33] She's great, but I think it actually turns out,
[00:42:36] I heard on social media that she actually is like...
[00:42:38] Oh no.
[00:42:39] Pence, Pence.
[00:42:41] That's just like, it's a lot of PR heat and I just...
[00:42:44] Yeah.
[00:42:45] We're trying to run a chill vibe crew, you know?
[00:42:48] Like one of those distant Pence relatives who came out of the woodwork
[00:42:52] and then it was like, oh, maybe you're going to be one of the good ones.
[00:42:55] But she's like so pro, like weapon.
[00:42:58] She's like, like she carries that fucking hammer everywhere.
[00:43:02] It's like a statement piece, you know?
[00:43:03] Right.
[00:43:05] So she's still around, but we're kind of trying to distance ourself.
[00:43:08] And I heard about a Pokemon called King Gambit,
[00:43:10] who definitely needs to be on the team.
[00:43:11] Don Joey also rather likes the sound of that King Gambit.
[00:43:15] Yeah, it looks fucking sick.
[00:43:17] Wow, that thing looks fucking sweet.
[00:43:19] I'm looking at it.
[00:43:20] Kind of sitting on like a little bench, which I like.
[00:43:23] Yeah, I like that too.
[00:43:24] It carries around his own stool.
[00:43:27] All right, Don Joey.
[00:43:29] He's carrying around in his nightly crew.
[00:43:34] Rouncy?
[00:43:35] Skele-durge level 51, who really steers into the singer thing
[00:43:42] because now it's got like Torch Song, I think is its signature move.
[00:43:46] And when you use that, it takes out a little microphone that's on fire.
[00:43:50] Oh yeah.
[00:43:50] And then blows into it.
[00:43:51] That's nice.
[00:43:53] Hyper Voice.
[00:43:54] It's really steering into the singer thing.
[00:43:56] That's cute.
[00:43:56] You know, I guess it's nice to have a bard when you're a wandering group of adventurers.
[00:44:04] So I guess that's okay.
[00:44:05] Yeah, you need one.
[00:44:06] Then we have the Duke Palmat level 52, still separated from the Duchess.
[00:44:12] Good.
[00:44:13] I think those arranged marriages are like a mistake anyway.
[00:44:16] It's nice that at least in Paldea,
[00:44:18] they have the ability that they can get divorced and or beheaded.
[00:44:21] But I'm hoping it will go the former rather than the latter.
[00:44:24] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:44:26] Then we have Lady Trish of Lavencia, Tinkerton level 50,
[00:44:30] not canceled, not related to the pences.
[00:44:33] So that's nice.
[00:44:36] Black Knight low kicks level 48.
[00:44:41] Good.
[00:44:41] Brings a certain edginess to the crew.
[00:44:44] Yeah, it's like Raphael on the Ninja Turtles, right?
[00:44:48] Yeah, but you know, what direction are we going to be taking these knights?
[00:44:53] You know, they're knights are rant.
[00:44:54] So like as long as they do the right thing, ultimately,
[00:44:57] regardless of how evil they kind of look.
[00:45:00] Yeah, then that's good.
[00:45:01] A little tricky who gets to decide what the right thing is, right?
[00:45:04] You?
[00:45:06] That's troubling for me as a friend of yours.
[00:45:08] We're gonna have to land on our aesthetic pretty soon
[00:45:11] because it used to be just a bunch of like little cute sweeties.
[00:45:15] But what's you know, what's the aesthetic here?
[00:45:18] Don Joey's gonna have to figure that out.
[00:45:20] You gotta lock it in.
[00:45:21] Just gotta lock in.
[00:45:23] Then we have Sir Jangles,
[00:45:26] Komo-O level 47 completed his quest to become a very shiny,
[00:45:34] intimidating dragon still abiding, still tamed.
[00:45:39] I think he likes that we Don Joey knighted him sort of out of the gate.
[00:45:43] Powerful.
[00:45:44] So he, you know, he feels like he's really got a powerful ceremony.
[00:45:47] He's got something going for him.
[00:45:48] So no problems.
[00:45:51] Great.
[00:45:51] One problem came up was that Cookie is on ice.
[00:45:56] Our Believa level 42.
[00:46:01] The sexy tree?
[00:46:02] Yeah.
[00:46:03] Oh, too much of a distraction for you.
[00:46:06] Our Believa took up our Believa.
[00:46:10] Speaking of our Believa took up an apprenticeship to go study
[00:46:14] or be studied by Brassius in Artisan.
[00:46:18] She's kind of over the cooking thing.
[00:46:21] And she kind of wants to like live in high society and become a muse.
[00:46:26] And she's going to be Brassius' muse if it all works out.
[00:46:29] So OK, she's out.
[00:46:32] She's been replaced by Joshi's sweetie, Claude Sire.
[00:46:44] Claude Sire.
[00:46:45] It's got it's right in the name.
[00:46:47] Claude Sire, the Claude Sire level 47.
[00:46:50] Yeah.
[00:46:50] Right there in the name.
[00:46:52] He met Claude Sire and he was like, you're in.
[00:46:55] Can't not invite you.
[00:46:56] You're a sire?
[00:46:57] Great.
[00:46:57] Legally.
[00:46:58] Also so sweet looking.
[00:47:00] Big improvement over a...
[00:47:02] Quagsire.
[00:47:03] Quagsire.
[00:47:04] Although you'd have to invite a quagsire too, I think.
[00:47:06] If I see a quagsire, I will probably also have to get a quagsire.
[00:47:12] Claude and they could be the new Duke and Duchess.
[00:47:14] Beautiful.
[00:47:16] I think you'll probably have to go back to Kitakami for that, though.
[00:47:18] That's not going to happen anytime soon.
[00:47:20] Yeah, I guess that's probably true.
[00:47:23] I like the poison ground combo.
[00:47:25] I just think it's so funny looking.
[00:47:27] Like the look on Quagsire's face is similarly cute, but I don't like the cut of its jib.
[00:47:33] Yeah.
[00:47:34] Claude Sire makes a lot more sense to me.
[00:47:36] It's like, what is this, like a mud puppy?
[00:47:39] It's cute.
[00:47:40] Great.
[00:47:40] I like it.
[00:47:41] It gets little spikes that come out of its back when it attacks, though.
[00:47:44] Spooky.
[00:47:45] Anyway, I'm not sure that it's that good, but we kind of had to accommodate a Sire.
[00:47:51] Yeah, of course.
[00:47:52] Make space.
[00:47:53] You know, at least for some amount of time.
[00:47:54] Royal court.
[00:47:55] That's what Don Joey's got going into this duel.
[00:47:59] I've found my way while you were going through your team to a Poké Center where there's a
[00:48:03] little yellow pad where I think I can hop on and fight you.
[00:48:07] Oh, those dudes who give out the items are from the Pokémon League.
[00:48:11] Yeah, I think this is like Hogwarts.
[00:48:13] We're just on Academy ground everywhere.
[00:48:14] The Academy must be the corporation.
[00:48:16] Oh, we can adventure together?
[00:48:18] That's not what I want to do, but that's interesting.
[00:48:20] Oh, actually, yeah, Bugcatcher suggested that.
[00:48:23] Maybe we should try to do that in this next week too.
[00:48:25] Yeah.
[00:48:26] All right, I've formed a group.
[00:48:28] Here's the link code.
[00:48:28] You ready?
[00:48:30] We're in.
[00:48:31] Single battle.
[00:48:32] Normal rules.
[00:48:35] No restrictions.
[00:48:37] If he does, he does.
[00:48:43] Let's fight.
[00:48:44] Hello?
[00:48:46] Okay, Clodsire versus Rebaroom.
[00:48:52] Oh no, Toxic Spikes, you're up to your old fucking tricks.
[00:48:57] Except he has all the hijinks, doesn't he?
[00:48:59] Whoa, super effective.
[00:49:01] Mudshot almost took you out.
[00:49:03] Oh no.
[00:49:04] I need a better ground move.
[00:49:05] Got down my double spikes.
[00:49:07] That's all I wanted.
[00:49:07] The moveset Clodsire has is not very strong quite yet.
[00:49:13] Sorry, Donna's car.
[00:49:14] Donna's car is going back to the repair shop.
[00:49:18] It's a good thing, Donna's car, but it lived its usefulness.
[00:49:23] Needs a little bit more torque.
[00:49:25] You know, car term or stuff.
[00:49:28] Yeah, good job.
[00:49:30] Oh god, here's a piece of shit.
[00:49:32] Gregor Samsa.
[00:49:34] Yeah, he doesn't look like a guy.
[00:49:36] What is it?
[00:49:37] I don't even know what type even is it.
[00:49:40] Poop.
[00:49:40] Poop type.
[00:49:41] Oh god.
[00:49:42] He's Bug Poop type.
[00:49:44] Oh, that's new, isn't it?
[00:49:47] Toxic worked when Gregor Samsa dug.
[00:49:50] You know what?
[00:49:51] I discovered in a battle this week that that hits while Gregor Samsa is underground.
[00:49:55] I think the toxic type star leader did that too.
[00:49:59] It was quite a surprise.
[00:50:01] See the little spines that come out?
[00:50:03] Yeah, I like it.
[00:50:04] Poison jabbing Gregor Samsa, poison jabbing a pile of poop.
[00:50:08] Well, there's a bug behind it too.
[00:50:10] Right, yeah.
[00:50:12] I guess Clod Sire is trying to stab the bug part.
[00:50:15] Did you pass out while you were underground?
[00:50:17] No.
[00:50:17] Oh, he's gonna-
[00:50:18] Clod Sire is gonna hang on with nine hit points.
[00:50:22] Rellor rolls off the field.
[00:50:28] Here's Fiona Eilish.
[00:50:30] Looking pretty spooky.
[00:50:31] Looking festive in the hearth stone.
[00:50:36] Hearth what mask?
[00:50:38] Fire one.
[00:50:38] Got the hearth flame mask on.
[00:50:41] You're terrestrializing.
[00:50:42] Then my mask gets very big.
[00:50:45] One little vine whip.
[00:50:47] Little vine whip.
[00:50:48] Clod Sire's out.
[00:50:51] I don't actually have a great counter for this.
[00:50:58] I don't know, man.
[00:50:59] Here comes the Duke.
[00:51:00] Hommat.
[00:51:00] Here he comes.
[00:51:01] Oh, I forgot the toxic spikes.
[00:51:04] God damn it.
[00:51:05] Badly poisoned.
[00:51:07] Nuzzle.
[00:51:08] You had better move, lady.
[00:51:10] God damn it.
[00:51:10] Oh, couldn't move.
[00:51:12] Oh yeah.
[00:51:14] Who's the bad guy now?
[00:51:18] You know, like, like this song.
[00:51:21] Oh, got him.
[00:51:22] Got her.
[00:51:22] Yeah, she's not very strong because she's only level 37.
[00:51:26] Yeah, you're like 15 levels below me to be fair.
[00:51:31] Here she is.
[00:51:32] Margo Pence.
[00:51:35] Well, well, well.
[00:51:37] Ooh, close combat's gonna hurt.
[00:51:39] Oh, close combat took her out.
[00:51:42] That's what you get for your voting record.
[00:51:44] I just do not have the levels.
[00:51:47] I mean, I have decent type matchups, but this is almost entirely a levels thing.
[00:51:53] But I had played rough.
[00:51:54] Yeah, she was your best shot at taking out the Duke.
[00:52:00] Donna Baker.
[00:52:02] Oh, she's dark.
[00:52:03] I forgot she's part dark.
[00:52:06] Brick break.
[00:52:06] Meowscaratta's exit stage left.
[00:52:10] My weakest Pokemon last.
[00:52:13] My baby.
[00:52:13] Oh, lady Beth, this is gonna, this is gonna hurt.
[00:52:17] I hate to do it.
[00:52:18] Oh, Beth.
[00:52:21] Okay, well, Spark will be one hit KO, I presume.
[00:52:26] I assume so.
[00:52:26] It's only level 43.
[00:52:28] Yeah, lady Beth.
[00:52:28] For Christ's sake, she's just a baby.
[00:52:31] All right.
[00:52:31] I'm sorry.
[00:52:33] Josh wins.
[00:52:34] We'll try again soon.
[00:52:35] I just didn't have the levels on Josh.
[00:52:38] Yeah, we'll try to set a level cap, but good teams, good match.
[00:52:43] I'm feeling good about the bros.
[00:52:44] Good match.
[00:52:45] Just need to get some levels on them.
[00:52:47] And we need to find Char Kadet's armor.
[00:52:49] ASAP.
[00:52:50] I think you will do that next week.
[00:52:53] We will also be doing, to catch up on the gyms that we have now overleveled,
[00:52:59] we're going to do the water and the normal type gym.
[00:53:03] We're also just going to go on a Gimme Ghoul grab.
[00:53:06] Gimme Ghoul hunt.
[00:53:06] Yeah, Gimme Ghoul grab.
[00:53:07] We're gonna find them all up, eat them all up.
[00:53:10] And we will also have our friend Greg Leatherman on.
[00:53:14] So maybe we will be battling again next week.
[00:53:17] So that gives us plenty of time.
[00:53:18] Should be pretty light on story.
[00:53:21] Everyone has time to level up their teams, grab some Gimme Ghoul coins,
[00:53:27] and be entertained by Greg and not have any problems.
[00:53:30] And be entertained by Greg and not have any complaints about the amount of time
[00:53:34] that they had to level.
[00:53:35] And maybe we'll see whatever Reller evolves into.
[00:53:38] That'd be nice.
[00:53:39] Maybe.
[00:53:40] He's kind of having trouble coming out of his shell, to be honest.
[00:53:43] Yeah.
[00:53:44] All right, Joshua!
[00:53:46] Buttcatchers!
[00:53:47] Thank you for joining us this week in Paldaia.
[00:53:49] We'll be back in Paldaia again next week, as Josh just explained.
[00:53:52] In the meantime, I've been GreatTansk,
[00:53:55] and I'm joined, as always, by my co-host, Iron Fields.

[00:54:25] Oh, by the way!
[00:54:26] Uh...
[00:54:28] Yeah, I was trying to figure out what am I saying?
[00:54:30] A real swing and a miss on our part.
[00:54:31] Adios.
[00:54:32] No!
[00:54:33] I never really processed this, but every time we visit a team star base,
[00:54:37] they always have a signature sign-off that we have to cop.
[00:54:41] Oh.
[00:54:42] They say, hasta la vista.
[00:54:44] Oh, hasta la vista.
[00:54:47] And they do this.
[00:54:48] That's good.
[00:54:48] And they do their star sign.
[00:54:50] Yeah.
[00:54:50] Yeah.
[00:54:51] Yeah, how did we gloss over that one?
[00:54:53] Hasta la vista to you, Joshua, and to you, the buttcatchers.
[00:54:56] Hasta la vista, buttcatchers.
[00:54:59] And smell you later.
